![]() 2003 - Koh Sa Mui, Thailand 27 July 2003 - 01 August 2003 Maenam We decided to go all-out for dinner, our last night in Koh Sa Mui and headed over to Maenam for a serene, candlelit, fresh seafood dinner on the beach. We lounged on the beach listened to the gentle waves lapping at the shore, and watched a thunder and lightening show in the distance while waiting for our dinner to arrive. We shared our view with a local Thai dog (pictured below) that seemed fascinated by the lightening show which would light up the sky in the distance (every 10-15 minutes) over Koh Phangan. Koh Sa Mui is an island slightly south of Koh Phangan, famous for its monthly full moon parties. To get from Koh Sa Mui to Koh Phangan, one simply needs to hop on a ferry boat, which is an hour's ride from Bo Phut and an hour and a half ride from Nathon Pier. Dinner consisted of one large, fresh mango smoothy (for Florence), iced coffee (for Paul), iced strawberry smoothy (shared) tom yum gai, pad see ew, and a seafood-pineapple rice dish. The pad see ew was the best dish (can't go wrong with one), with the tom yum gai placing a close second. The seafood-pineapple rice dish had a surprise ingredient, mayonaise, which Paul cared very little for. Other ingredients included ample pineapple and onion cubes (Florence mistakenly thought the onion cubes were pineapple cubes on more than one occasion during the course of the meal), and about 3 or 4 pieces of shrimp (which is why the dish had the words "seafood" in its title). Needlenss to say, this meal turned out to be slightly less pleasant than we had originally anticipated, but luckily for us, a light sprinkling of rain ensued towards the end of our meal. This light shower initiated frantic chaos as a response and signalled to us that our seafood-on-the-beach-meal was over. In the flurry of frenzy and excitement, our waiter made a mistake on our bill, which ultimately benefited us and suited Paul just fine. We payed the price requested for our meal, scootered back to our resort and spent the rest of our evening enjoying each other's company while relaxing in our warm, comfortale, dry bed and catching up on the adventures of Harry Potter.
